Workshop 5: Developing Enterprise Vocational Training in Partnership with Business and Industry

Target Audience:

The theme is targeted to practitioners and policy makers in the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, corporate HR and industry leaders with an interest in workforce development and industry skills training.

Rationale:

The widening skills gap and lack of quality skilled workers are issues concerning  workforce planning across ASEAN . The development of a high quality TVET sector has important benefits to the economy, businesses and individual member states.

While important work has been done at a policy level through the ASEAN Qualification Reference Framework (AQRF), individual organisations in respective countries are at different stages in the development of application of the framework..

The Workshops Objectives:

This theme will explore practical strategies and action plans to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the ASEAN Community and in specific member countries.

  1. Develop Industry Partnership Action Plan involving government, TVET institutions and companies (including local companies and MNC’s) in identifying current and future skill needs and ensuring that training is job relevant and meets benchmarked regional and global industry quality standards.

  2. Facilitate opportunities for industry partnerships at institutional and sectoral level between ASEAN Countries and Australia to enhance quality and access to TVET in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

  3. Map out strategies and frameworks to build collaboration and partnerships across borders consistent with the objectives of AQRF for agreed standards and recognition of qualifications to facilitate labour mobility across ASEAN.
